Lemont: Unlocked

In Lemont, our doors are open for you!

@ Lemontdowntown and SouthCookExplore are hosting a new kind of architectural and historical tour!

If you’d like to read about locations, explore the historic district downtown and see the sights at your own pace, our custom Google Maps link will provide information on participating buildings as you learn about the town!

If you’d like to actually go inside locally-quarried limestone-built churches, high rise buildings with the most incredible view of the Des Plaines River Valley and the entire downtown, or underground tunnels in 19th century stories along the I&M Canal, you can do that too! Each building will have a host to bring you inside and highlight the significance of their building.

AND IT IS ALL FREE!

My first guided tour will be will the Lemont Area Historical Society as we explore old quarries along the I&M Canal!

LAHS offers two tour types: A downtown walk through the historic district and another tour along the I&M Canal. Both tours occur twice a year in the spring and autumn.
